On this day in 2008, it was Harry Redknapp’s first match in charge and it gave us a glimpse of what we could expect! An injury time goal from Aaron Lennon made it 4-4! A topsy turvy match, saw us go ahead early on from a very long range strike from David Bentley. The Gunners fought back and scored three unanswered goals to lead 3-1 and fears it was the same old story regardless of change of manager. Again, hopes were raised in the 67th minute, when Darren Bent’s goal reduced the deficit back to one – only for Arsenal to restore a 2 goal lead by scoring just a minute later. With the score still 4-2 in the 90th minute – all seemed lost. The Gooners in the stands were singing and rejoicing – but, never celebrate too early! Jermaine Jenas scores in the 90th minute – too late surely? Arsenal try to wind the clock down, but in the final minute of injury time, Aaron Lennon pounced onto a rebound after Modric had hit the post and tucked it in the net – queue bedlam from the Yid Army! It might only have been a draw, but it felt oh so much more.
