On this day in 1989, Spurs travelled to Old Trafford to play Manchester United in the 3rd Round of the League Cup. This was the season that saw Alex Ferguson win his first trophy (of quite a few) for the Red Devils, but it wasn’t to be in the League Cup as we completely outplayed United on the night and romped to a 3-0, with goals from Lineker, Samways and Nayim sending the jubilant Yid Army home.
