On 11th April 1981, Spurs appeared in their first FA Cup Semi Final for 14 years, aiming to reach the 100th FA Cup Final in the Year of the Cockerel.
Spurs arrived at Hillsborough as favourites and further enhanced this when Steve Archibald scored the opener in just the 4th minute. However, Kenny Hibbitt equalised just a minute later, with a fine strike from outside the box.
Spurs regained the lead just before half time, with a trademark Glenn Hoddle freekick from the edge of the box, leaving Paul Bradshaw in the Wolves goal left stationery as the ball sails into the net.
It remained 2-1 until the final minute, when a penalty was awarded to Wolves following a Glenn Hoddle tackle where he appears to had won the ball. Willie Carr duly converted and sent the match into extra time.
The extra 30 minutes couldn’t separate the teams and they headed for a replay at Highbury to decide the tie
