On this day in 1963, we were renewing our rivalry against our near neighbours Arsenal – played on a Tuesday evening due to Internationals the previous weekend.
Incredibly, this was to end up the second 4-4 draw in three meetings – with the NLD played in between finishing in a 3-2 victory for our boys – meaning an incredible 21 goals were scored in 3 meetings!
Spurs went into half time break leading 4-2 after a stunning first half where Jimmy Greaves, Bobby Smith (2) and Dave Mackay – the boys were still leading in the dying seconds – but as seems to happen with most regularity, Arsenal conjured up an injury time equaliser!
